WHAT IS THE BEST / WORST POSSIBLE THING YOUR WORK COULD BE USED FOR?

For a long time, I’ve struggled with ethics as an artist. The most revered art institutions are headed by people whose lives are characterized by a lack of empathy and an abundance of power. Those who profit off of others’ weaknesses (the Sackler family/Purdue pharma, for example), save face by going into the arts. How ironic is it that in the age of #metoo, a rapist sits as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Kennedy Center, after heading Printed Matter, inc and The New Museum? The powers that oppress cannot be defeated by blind surges forward.
Self-inquiry is essential in any artist’s practice. To what extent does your art hinge on your privilege? The personal is always political; where do you fit in there?
