rings
2025
cut paper
~9.25x6.75"
thinking about yearning, diaspora, longing to go to a home that exists as a moment in time moreso than an actual place. of my mother telling me that herself, my brother, and i are three unbreakable rings forming a chain together. of my family and distance and wishing the map was a blanket when it is a slate with artificial barriers.
of the forever struggle for to live, not just survive.

we fall as one / we rise as one
2024
~9.25x7.5”
cut paper, spraypaint
thinking about a lot of the left's tendency to punch left, to spend so much energy virtue signalling and critiquing each other's behavior and adherence to some moral bastion. to objectivize things when they are not objective. to reject one flavor of fascism for another. to argue and not to dream. to alienate and not protect.
all the while fascism not only creeps but strides and strikes our own.
when we fall we fall as one though fragmented. but when we rise we can rise as one too – one whole.
disagreement will always exist. it is up to us to parse it.

what is it most / that you fear
2024
papercut
7.5 x 11.25”
organizing as an ethos of pure love, of a million davids rising to beat the goliath, of el ahrairah, of fascism’s exploitation of our fear, of a refusal to speak up, a refusal to follow thru, an insistence on control, what is it most / that you fear?

do not leave, silently
2022
cut paper, spraypaint
~8x10”
make yourself heard / make yourself seen / make yourself known / let us celebrate you / and let us mourn you / let us be filled by absence / and transformed by change / let us know you in ourselves / or be lost in unknowing
just
do not leave, silently

the ballot or the blade
2022
cut paper
~9.25x6.75"
translation of farsi: “by any means necessary, we must live with consciousness / get your head out of your ass!”
we can only rely upon the ballot for so long. our material conditions are in our hands; our community’s futures are in our hands.
“Let us take a knife.
And cut the world in two-
And see what worms are eating At the rind.“
— Langston Hughes

death cult
2021
cut paper
~8.5x11”
here is a death cult united by romanticism and manufactured need. we are all rabbits ruled by wolves. we outnumber them yet we are victimized. we run toward the spectacle, desiring its acceptance, yet we are running nowhere.
there is no path in running around a pit that expands outward, consuming us.

leave the pre-ordained meaning of a piece. create for pleasure. create for control. my plants can live forever under my knife.
